TRX Training in Maryland
You may have heard of TRX training or TRX Suspension Training®, especially if you’re a fitness guru or have recently started physical therapy. Designed for all levels of fitness, the TRX Suspension Trainer helps develop strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, and more. If you’re interested in TRX training and want a physical therapy program that includes TRX exercises, contact Advanced Spine & Wellness Center – we have a new TRX Suspension Trainer in our office in Rockville, Maryland!
About TRX Training
TRX training uses a piece of portable equipment called the TRX Suspension Trainer. Using gravity and the user’s body weight, this piece of equipment enables literally hundreds of different exercises. TRX Suspension Training® has three principles: Vector Resistance, Pendulum, and Stability.
Vector Resistance: For standing movements, positioning your feet closer to the anchor point increases resistance and makes movements more challenging.
Pendulum: For ground-based movements, positioning your feet farther from the anchor point increases resistance.
Stability: Generally, doing unilateral movements (using just one arm or one leg) increases resistance. The wider the base of the support, the more stable you will be during TRX training.
One of the typical TRX exercises (and one we would recommend!) is a suspended plank. Patients use the TRX Suspension Trainer to suspend their body in a prone position and then engage their transverse abdominis muscles to stabilize the spine. The plank can be regressed and progressed based on the patient’s specific abilities and needs.
Benefits of TRX Suspension Training®
TRX training offers a number of benefits – and not just for those who are serious athletes. In fact, that’s one of the biggest advantages of the equipment. TRX training is geared toward ALL fitness levels, from middle-aged people who need to get in shape to professional athletes! You can regress or progress TRX exercises to fit specific needs. The TRX Suspension Trainer also:
- Is lightweight and extremely mobile
- Can increase all fitness levels in a short period of time
- Improves all areas of health – endurance, speed, balance, stability, strength, flexibility, and proprioception
